Soloist, outstanding chamber musician and teacher. Winner of competitions. He has recorded 20 CDs with Polish music (phonographic premieres). Author of several dozen publications of performance arrangements for violin pieces and methodological articles, as well as over 60 premieres of works by Polish music. Full professor at the FCUM in Warsaw, as well as the Head of the Department of String Instruments at the same University in 2016-2019. Artistic director of the Warsaw String Orchestra Z. Brzewski and a teacher at the elite School of Z. Brzewski, in which students and graduates win prizes in prestigious music competitions. Juror of international and national violin competitions. Honored, among others, with the prizes of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the CEA Director and the "Gloria Artis" medal for Merit to Culture.

Andrzej Gębski

Violinist, soloist, chamber musician, pedagogue; he started learning to play the violin at the age of seven. He completed his violin studies at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, class of Professor Mirosław Ławrynowicz in 1997, with a diploma with honours (outstanding). The artist developed his skills under Wolfgang Marschner and Krystyna Makowska, and Andrzej Wróbel (chamber music).
He is a prize-winner of the 4th International Karol Szymanowski Violin Competition in Łódź, the 2nd Krzysztof Penderecki International Competition of Contemporary Chamber Music and the 11th Pierre Lantier International Competition of Music Interpretation in Paris. Since 1997 he has been a member of the Camerata Vistula Chamber Ensemble under Andrzej Wróbel, and since 2002 he has been its 1st Violinist. In 1998, together with Jarosław Domżał and Joanna Ławrynowicz he established the Warsaw Trio, with which he did some recordings. As a soloist and chamber musician Andrzej Gębski participated in numerous music events, performing in Poland (in all Polish Philharmonics), Germany, France, Turkmenistan, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Venezuela, China and Taiwan.
The artist promotes the Polish music, he played 54 first performances and archive recordings of pieces by contemporary Polish composers for the Polish Radio and Television, as well as he recorded 16 CD albums with the Polish music (including 10 CDs for the “Acte Préalable” company), which are phonographic first performances.
The cooperation of Andrzej Wróbel, a cellist and tireless promoter of the Polish music, with Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, one of Poland’s most outstanding violinist, resulted in the creation of a trio performing violin and chamber pieces by Karol Lipiński. The trio consisting of: Konstanty Andrzej Kulka – soloist, Andrzej Gębski and Andrzej Wróbel, performed almost 100 monographic concerts with Lipiński’s music, and the crowning of this activity was the release of an album (6CDs!) with 23 pieces by Lipiński in 2012.
Since 1998 Andrzej Gębski has also worked as a teacher at his parent University. In 2003 he obtained a doctoral degree, in 2008 he obtained a post-doctoral degree (his thesis was a publication entitled Zagadnienia wykonawcze utworów na skrzypce i fortepian Romualda Twardowskiego). Since 2011 Andrzej Gębski is University Professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music.
Since 2000 he has run the violin class at the elite Zenon Brzewski General Music School in Warsaw (Ogólnokształcąca Szkoła Muzyczna im. Z. Brzewskiego), and since 2002 he has run the string orchestra at that school. He formed this orchestra under the name “The Zenon Brzewski Warsaw String Orchestra” and he gives concerts with them in prestigious concert halls, such as at the National Philharmonic, the FCUM, the Unesco Hall in Paris, and other key music centres. This is the orchestra with which re recorded all pieces for string orchestra by Romuald Twardowski. Moreover, Andrzej Gębski runs the violin class at the International Music Courses in Łańcut, Streich Akademie in Goch (Germany), as well as music workshops of the “National Children’s Fund”, focusing the most talented youth of Poland. He is a jury member at violin competitions and auditions: International G. Ph. Telemann Violin Competition in Poznań, International H. Wieniawski Competition for Young Violinists in Lublin, Interinational Professor M. Ławrynowicz Violin Competition in Płock, All-Poland S. Serwaczyński Competition for Young Violinists in Lublin, CEA Auditions and others.
Andrzej Gębski is the author of 20 performance guides for violin pieces published by the Polish Music Publishers (Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne) and the “Euterpe” publishers.
He has received many awards for his teaching and artistic achievements, e.g.: Special Award and 1st Degree Award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Award of the Head of the Centre of Artistic Education (three times) and Medal “For Merits to Culture Gloria Artis”, Medal of the FCUM and Medal of the Radzyń Music Society.
He plays the instrument by a contemporary Polish violin-maker Wojciech Topa.
